What 'exactly' does a porter do i wondered to myself....

Found this on the internet....not sure about the word bellhop (what; you ring a bell and we hop - yeh probably pretty accurate!)......

"Bellhops and porters usually work in hotels rather than motels. Like all employees in the hospitality industry, their main goal is to make sure that the guests enjoy their stay. In some hotels the duties of bellhops and porters are similar; however, bellhops usually work inside the hotel, whereas porters work outside.

Bellhops carry guests' luggage, show guests to their rooms, and make sure that everything in the room is in order. They check the lights, ventilation, and heating and show guests how to use the air conditioner, television, and telephone. If any equipment is not working properly, bellhops report this to the maintenance department so that it can be repaired as soon as possible. Bellhops may also give guests information about the hotel and local tourist attractions, deliver packages, run errands, and bring food and drink orders to guests' rooms. They also carry luggage for guests who are leaving.

In large hotels bellhops are supervised by a bell captain. Bell captains give the bellhops their assignments, train new bellhops, record the bellhops' hours for payroll, and handle complaints made to their department.

Like bellhops, baggage porters handle baggage and suitcases. They deliver luggage to a guest's room on request and, when the guests are prepared to leave, arrange to have the bags shipped and carry them to the loading platform. Porters mail important papers and packages for guests and sometimes run errands that take them away from the hotel—buying tickets to a theater or sporting event, for instance."

.....Yeh, sounds accurate, sounds like fun!

New Bible.....

Well here are some pics of my new chunky bible...i got it not too long ago

Its really good, i like that it helps you read through the bible, give you pointers, it has people profiles to get to know people and lots of help. one other thing i want to start doing which i've never really done in past bible is start making notes for future reference. As in on of the above photos, some will be definitions, some might be things collected from servces or wisdom pased on from others, not sure about my own 'wisdom'..... don't feel that they would fit

And yes thats a list of the books of the bible there in the cover...its so big that its too hard to 'flip' (more like weight lift) to the contents when i need it.....

I noticed that my counter for views of the blog was 100 (after some back and forthing from myself to get it up the extra 14 or so..don't know why...just started and it became addictive...closer...closer....) i wonder how many are people who have actually viewed it or is it just me continually reading it, changing it, cheking its right, and learning about myself.....?

Cutting it close.....

oooooohhhh, just of the ferry from a night out and qickly get on for the 5th....phew....

Well, two things i might go into quickly, 1. show how in depth the discision process for Hayman was...i did my homework and 2. Reply from Hayman.....and from a special request...maybe some chuck norris....(just like to point out that i don't write them....not taking the glory here....just passing them on...)

First, as the picture shows, thoses are my good and negative points above....working through the decision..well thought out...

Second, got a reply back from hayman, saying, thanks for email... yes send resume...only F&B and Housekeeping probably avaliable at the moment... but still to apply.... so i will see how it goes......

and now to finish off......you'll have to forgive me if some are duplicates...

-Chuck Norris has already been to Mars; that's why there are no signs of life there.

Hayman So far.....

Well, the story so far is...

Hayman island came to talk to us last Friday at Uni. They presented a powerpoint on most of the stuff that i had seen looked up on the website (its so comprehensive! - http://www.hayman.com.au/) The stuff that was presented that i didn't know was mostly about the staff living quarters and staff activities which was good becuase i hadn't been able to see much of that stuff online. The presentation was mostly a bit negative, but it was explained that that was so people know what they are getting themselves into! - I know...

So, after presenting, they said that they would be back (they work on the island...but...**) on Monday/Tuesday and i think...it was suggested to hand in resume and application letter to course coordinator, however....! I asked and i think...(wasn't quite clear) that i am meant to wait until the instructions appear on the our website but the website where they would be found hasn't changed in ages....

The other day after working out (ooohhh-yeh be quite) at the Intercontinental's gym, i was linked up through a friend there with someone who worked for Hayman in sales (in the intercontinental**)and we had a casual chat and she gave the HR people a ring and left a lengthy message about me which was really nice... and i have sent an email to ask what my next step is....

That is where the journey is at the moment....I'm going for the Job and will see where i get too... and i know that God will be with me whatever happens!

Colossians 3

Check this out:

Colossians 3: 1-17

Rules for Holy Living

1Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

5Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. 7You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

12Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. 17And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

With a click of the fingers.

Its amazing how things, cicumstances, thoughts can change really quickly one minute your sure of something and the next second after someone mutters insignficant words, it sends your mind into a spin. I was talking to one of the lecturers at uni who has worked on Hayman as a manager. He said that there wasn't a minister who lived on the island or any Christian services on the island. This threw my mind in overload.

My first response (especially after KYCKstart) was that i should be ready to give up this thing that i have been thinking about for ages in a second if it possibly stops me living for God, and this was my first reaction, i was ready to throw it all away and just work in Sydney. My second thought was that i need to check the facts cause i have also been told the other way, that there is a minister who lives there by someone else who worked there a while. Then a friend sugested that maybe it was a chance to live without a strong Chrisitan community around me, but what if i get there and there is no Christian community, 7 months is a long time... Here i sit talking to God, wondering, asking, reading through scripture looking for help, thinking back to the time i thought of the idea, sitting in church, not an idea that i would have thought of cause i didn't really want to leave my family and friends in Sydney which made me think that maybe God may have been leading me there... and then thinking why would he then maybe stop it happeneing. In all i'm glad that i have been warned of the possiblity and to get ready for it because Hayman is coming this friday and i will confirm whether i need to "be prepared, count the cost, and make the cut".... Conviction

After KYCKstart, i feel the conviction to work harder for Christ, i feel like before i was just hanging around Christ but now i want to live each day for him more than i was before, to work towards his kingdom for myself and for all others, to pray to him each and everyday to be sharing my life with him more and letting him run it for me. I want to do all this more than before but this time i feel that i have more of a conviction and i think the message has been clarified so that i realise why i am doing it. I think that before my serving of Christ has been more regimented, more structured and upright but now i want to serve him like i did at KYCKstart, and i feel his love in me. I want to get a bigger bible, with a cover in which i can right notes to my self (i saw a friends like this) and really make it my own that i study and grow in my knowledge of God and his love and all things. I've made heaps of mistakes in the past and i know that i will always fall short but i want to make amends and i know that God forgives me and always loves me and always will no matter what. (i have tears in my eyes at the moment) Thank you God!!!!!!!!!!!

Please pray for me that i can do all this.

Thanks so much!
