Road Trip

Looking at that last picture, i really want to go on a road trip down the coast, just pack stuff, hire a nice place and stay there and explore the town and just have fun, nowhere to go but where we want to go, the beach, the shops, the town or...nowhere! Just a road trip through the country : )

Sounds like fun

ramblings.....s..s..s..s.

Had a bit of a drive today, Jess showed me and encouraged me on the route to her house from mine and back. It wasn't too bad, wasn't feeling right really but am now. We drove all the way, the etag thingy didn't 'beep' but it did the other two times (its my mum's) so we got there and back fine. We then went to the gym after we got back and had a good go. I usually feel better after the gym. I have now cleaned up my desk, i can see wood! it looks cleaner, and i have three bags neatly on my floor near the door ready. One for work, one for uni, and one for the gym. Its getting neater. Thats about all the rambling i have for today....hmm...not very interesting...maybe you might think better.

Traditional Afternoon Tea

This afternoon my family and jess went along to Afternoon Tea and the tea rooms in the qvb building. It was lovely. We arrived a bit late but managed to pull it all together and become relaxed after parking the car at Hilton across the road. We travelled across the road and made our way to the tea rooms. We were seated and given menus. We all had a 'Traditional Afternoon Tea' with a selection of teas. Rich got a vanilla one, mum a one called Africa and i had a silvertips which was a white tea. We passed all the teas (and the glass of wine that dad got) around the table all tasting each others and sharing and commenting and enjoying ourselves. I found this great, the idea that you each get a different one and then share tastings, its a lovely idea to be able to share and act like connoisseurs and talk about the tea and the food. The food was yummi, with finger sandwiches to start (if you wanted to, you could chose) then some delicious scones which were crunchy and had a delicious strawberry jam and cream to go with surrounded by filo pastry with spinach. On the middle plate of the stack was little petite fours with a choc cake one, a carrot and walnut cake one, a little meringue with something like pistachio, a strawberry one, a passionfruit stack biscuit and little cream filled things which was all delicious. There was one of each for the five people. It was great and amazing that after these little tasting portions, everyone felt quite full!

A lovely afternoon was had by everyone, the chance to celebrate mother's day after all the hubub of the real one (we were all working or churching) and take time out in the middle of the week to just stop and enjoy a bit of tea.

The Palm Jumeirah

Just watching a program on National Geographic on the building of the Palm Jumeirah (pictured above and in post below...)

It is amazing, it is a huge island made with sand in a perfect palm shape. It shows all the problems they had to deal with waves eroding the coast, not having clean water inside, having to keep changing the requirements, putting so many hundreds of hotels and shopping centers and houses and such all along every inch of the 5 km by 5 km island with 17 palm fronds! it is huge...you need to watch the program to get the full grasp. It is really quite amazing!!!! Also it takes so many people to create it....there are 10's of thousands of construction sites....

the program said that the crown prince 'was so inspired' that he is now building two more that are much bigger than the original one!!

Amazing!!!

Updating...

Well, this arvo, i got home and fell asleep straight away! missed dinner. I awoke later after a call, then went to have dinner that had been put away for me. Brother and mum went to a play. Got a special surpise for mum tomorrow, which dad almost spoiled today. Thats about all...just a quickupdate tonight...given the tiredness...thanks for reading...

God Bless

PS. the above picture is of the 'hydropilis' a currently underway hotel off the coast of dubai that will be completely underwater...thats right, completely underwater. It will cost approx $800 million to complete, it will have the base station on top of the water and the guests will travel to the hotel which will be located underneath it. I believe that planes are not alowed to fly above so that no one knows whats going on there....

Blogger out....

An answer within a post.

Well, the test went ok, which maybe means that i failed...usually when i think i did well, i fail...so here's hoping that i didn't for a first time : ) But one positive thing was that i feel that i was actually thinking like a manager...which i think was good...and hard to do

In answer to andrew's comment, i am doing some music, not playing as much at st. michael's but rich and i are entered into a school battle of the bands. we are playing two songs...don't need no doctor...cover of ray charles done by john mayer...and rich wants me to do one of my songs...but thats only if we get past the first round. So hopefully that will go well...hope we do ok. hope its not too frightening. The bands name is

'ignition'

So in the mean time i've been practising a bit for that...and playing a bit of guitar..

Ponders....

Well, jess is heading to work at hilton tonight...overnight!!! I'm settling in to finish off some study and then head to bed so as to get up in the morning and do a test on my management subject. Jess illuminated me to the fact that the post in which i said have a picture, ironically, the picture did not show so i will have to head back in to change that. I am thinking a bit about wisdom at the moment with my bible studys and my reading of proverbs. Thinking about how sampson was given great wisdom from God....how he knew lots of things and had the wisdom to use his knowledge. Thinking about it...i'm trying to attain wisdom...reading the proverbs and trying to be more wise, using things i know to help me feel more comfortable in life....more in control cause God is there giving me the knowledge. Also as itend to be leaning more to the jack of all trades but master of none (not sure which side of which scale i'm on but i am interested and do a lot of different things) that i might focus on one of them and develop it a lot. In reading the 'fitness first' magazine which was free for members as i exited one day, it sugested finding a balance to life in four areas...
-physical
-intellectual
-emotional
-spiritual

I wrote these down and tried to identify the things i do which come under these headings....such as
-physical (going to the gym, physical activity)
-intellectual (university degree, working)
-emotional (found this one a bit harder but i thought maybe having quiet time, reading doing things i really wanted to do-which i find a bit hard cause there are many. I don't absolutly LOVE one thing to do like playing music or reading or making models of cars...)
-spiritual...(well i thought this is my bible studies and my reading of the bible and all things like that...but i remember reading somewhere that we do not have 'spiritual lives' and 'the other side of life' it is all spiritual...so i thought while there is a time to do all these things (such as in the bible somewhere if i remember rightly..not backing up my argument but just remembering) but i think that our spiritual 'side' flows into all aspects of our lives...

So trying to get a bit of life balance here...and i thought to myself that at the moment, with the two things the i classified for myself as intellectual...they took up most of my time...and sometimes when i was trying to do my assignments and finding other things i wanted to do...maybe that is because i don't give them enough balance..cause they were all things that i found fun to a degree or other....if i fill more of that section of my time...then i can focus on the intellectual side when the time comes...

so some things i am pondering on there.....hopefully i can achieve a bit of a blance...even though i know that at the moment i am studying and working which both take up a fair bit of my time...

Wednesday the 7th of May

There's the date...I could close now and would have filled my quota for today :p

No readers (anyone...), i won't leave you in the dark, i will fulfil my interest quotient...

Hehe, i really don't know what to blog about...i'll do my best.

Well, today didn't get much done, went to lectures this morning which, unusual for environmental..usually its good for the first while but then after the first 2 hours....anyway, today's lecture was on environmental building materials and practises. I watched a cool show on the lifestyle channel on foxtel once about this guy who was organising the construction of his own new house in England somewhere, but it was all environmentally friendly...recycled materials...locally to save on transport costs...it was an interesting program! So we did a lecture on that.

Then went into the city...to go to the gym...didn't go to the gym. Didn't get much done at home, watched las vegas...haven't seen it in a while. So didn't get a lot done...have a test on Friday on management....

Yeh, thats enough update....i'm getting bored..

God Bless.

Till tomorrow..

Have a break, Have a Picture

I just want to break up the whole post being about money....

So here is a picture : )

$10.75

Well, as i was putting the finishing touches on my assignment i then decided to have a shower....i thought, i have time...as it approached 12 o'clock...as i got out and dressed at 12 exaclty....it suddenly dawned on me that my lecture actually started at 12:30pm instead of a later time which i was thinking of....don't ask me why i was thinking of a different time...maybe cause my thursday lecture starts at 1pm...

Anyway, i had to get dressed quickly and chuck the things i needed into my bag (making sure i had my big assignment with me!) and walked out the door, hailed the first cab i found and got in...

He started for the cross city tunnel...i said for him to go along william street (no toll) but he said that there had been a big crash on william street and he told me all the details...( i believed him...he said he had come from there not long ago...) so we went and got there well...only 8 dollars something...then he pushed for the toll...$10.75 ( if i remember rightly) i paid and went out and got there on time to hand my assignment in...

so out of my $20 dollar budget i have spent

$10.75

and i haven't even got my crisp note out of the bank. The rest of the week may be hard...especially with mothers day coming up but i don't think i will count that..i will have to eat at home...and watch what i spend...my aim is to when i get paid after thursday...to have money which to add the new pay too...

I was wondering whether to include this little slip in my count of $20 but i thought if i don't...then i wont with anything else..
I think this will be a learning experience...i mnight go over this week..but then i can try and do better next week...

Anyway...blogging out... :p
